How do I know what harness size and style to buy?Updated 4 months ago
Let's talk about finding the perfect fit for your furry friend with our Help'Em Up Harness! Our full-body lifting device is all about comfort and support, so getting the right size is key.
First things first: How much does your pup weigh? That's our starting point. We've got some handy measurement guidelines for each size for those tricky cases, but your dog's weight is the real key here. Once you've got that number, keep in mind that it's usually better to size down.
- For example, an 80-pound Labrador will be comfortable in a medium, while a 45-pound Corgi would likely do well in a small.
- But remember, every dog is unique, so double-checking measurements is always a smart move.
Don't worry if your pooch is a little over the listed measurements in the chest, waist, or neck areas. Our harnesses are super adjustable, with some wiggle room in the straps for those extra inches.
Now, if your canine companion is deep-chested, was much heftier in their prime and kept that built but not the weight, or has unusual proportions due to breed or health conditions, it's time to consider the mix-and match size.
To measure your dog if needed, please make sure you have a fabric measuring tape. The tape should be snug to get an accurate measurement. You'll be taking the following three measurements:
1. GIRTH: This is the deepest part of your dogs’ chest (measure all the way around its rib cage).
2. WAIST: This measurement is all the way around your dogs’ hips, specifically right in front of their hind legs.
3. NECK: Although the girth and waist are the most important measurements, the neck measurement is also helpful.

As you might have noticed, we have 2 (two) styles of hip lift supports available based on the dog's anatomy (the conventional and the U-band hip lift styles):
The Conventional hip lift is best suited for all female dogs and most males whose penis is farther forward of their hind legs:

Male dogs that have a penis that is located further back between their hind legs or the tip of the penis is even or slightly forward of their hind legs wear the U-band hip lift:
Both styles offer equal support but are designed to accommodate different anatomy so dogs can urinate freely while in the harness.
If your male pup is in between the two style, please note that your dog's penis needs to be at least 1.5-2 inches forward of the hind legs for the conventional style to be appropriate. For instances when it's less than that, please choose the U-band style.
Remember, the goal is to maintain a snug but comfortable fit where you can slip two fingers between the harness and your dog's body.
